The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Leisure Department for a Coordinator Performing Arts role. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and delivery of the Clocktower Centre performing arts program, broader activation of the centre and developing a satellite performing arts program.
Success in the role would require a high level of project and stakeholder management and demonstrated experience in the arts and cultural industry.
The Coordinator Performing Arts is expected to support Moonee Valley’s strategic direction MV2040 by creating new programming initiatives that diversify use of venue spaces, increase community access and promote the venue as a hub within the Moonee Ponds activity precinct.
Key Position Objectives
- Lead the planning and co-ordination of the capital works and renewal program for the Clocktower Centre to ensure it is presented as a high-quality performing arts and community venue.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting systems, statistics and financial analysis to ensure venue operations and finances are tracked and reviewed annually.
- Provide leadership and support in the strategic planning and delivery of new programming initiatives that attract new audiences to the venue, diversify use of venue spaces, increase community access and activate the venue in low demand periods.
- Strategically build relationships across Council service areas to increase opportunities for venue activation through commercial and community use.
- Develop outreach performing arts initiatives that support activation of Moonee Valley Neighbourhoods and align with MV2040 objectives.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in venue/theatre operations, arts management or theatre production or less formal qualifications with extensive experience in venue/theatre management
- Demonstrated experience in theatre and broader arts programming and developing initiatives to maximise venue potential.
- High level of project management skills including knowledge of specification and contract development practices.
- Sound knowledge of Occupational, Health and Safety issues as they apply to theatre and venue operations.
- Demonstrated skill in working across groups to achieve mutually positive outcomes
