The Opportunity

This opportunity will see you perform the accounts receivable function ensuring the timely processing of tax invoices and adjustments as well as ensuring the on-going collection of outstanding debts and issuing of overdue statements and letters.  You will maintain and update computer systems relating to accounts receivable and revenue services and ensure debtors and other customers are provided with advice and assistance in accordance with Council policies, guidelines and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Coordinator Revenue, you will be responsible for the following:

  • To ensure that tax invoices, credits, refunds and request for payments are raised accurately and with complete details of services provided as required
  • To ensure compliance with debtors system, which involves ensuring that departmental guidelines relating to correct authorisation, costing and timelines are adhered to
  • Reconciliation of Sundry Debtors ledger to the general ledger
  • Process and document approved sundry debt write offs within the relevant internal systems (i.e. Sundry Debtors system and HPE records manager)

About You

To be suitable for this position, you will possess the following:

  • Certificate 3 in business administration or related field; and some relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant technology, procedures and practices used in accounts receivable processes.
  • Knowledge in current accounting and debt collection processes including relevant policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Sound computer knowledge in both PC and mainframe applications – preferably Microsoft Office and well-developed keyboard skills.
