The Opportunity

This Senior Coordinator Communications opportunity will see you reporting to and working closely with the Executive Manager Corporate Governance on the strategic development, management and implementation of communications to support the organisation in delivering service excellence. You will provide Council’s internal and external clients with professional, cost effective, proactive and reactive communications services and products, across a range of traditional and digital platforms. In addition, you will also supervise and facilitate a collaborative, creative and high-achieving communications team that supports Council’s organisational objectives and values.

 

Responsibilities

  • Creating innovative communication activities and solutions including digital newsletters, videos, web content and social media;
  • Managing the delivery of new corporate websites in accordance with the Information Communications & Technology (ICT) Strategy;
  • Managing and overseeing the production of Council’s publications, advertising, reactive and proactive media liaison, graphic design, printing services and media monitoring contracts; and,
  • Providing leadership, advice and support, driving accountability, actively developing staff and managing team workload.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Local government experience highly advantageous;
  • Tertiary qualification in related discipline with substantial relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications together with extensive and diverse experience;
  • Recent demonstrated experience managing complex and sensitive organisational and public communication issues;
  • Proven experience in leading a team of communications specialists, with the ability to develop, motivate and coach team members;
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn; and,
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
