The Opportunity

Positioned within Council’s Chief Financial Office, this position will see you responsible for the provision of the Accounts Payable function within Council. Utilising your demonstrated financial skills and experience you will ensure the timely data entry, generate fortnightly payment runs, supervise direct reports and provide specialist guidance and advice to Council staff, suppliers and auditors.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Business Administration or other relevant qualification combined with relevant worked experience in Accounts Payable function within the public, private or not for profit sectors in a comparable role;
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian Accounting Standards and the Local Government regulations would be an advantage;
  • Ability to supervise and support employees;
  • Sound computer knowledge in both PC and mainframe applications – preferably Microsoft Office and well-developed keyboard skills;
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills; and,
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritise and complete work within strict time lines often with conflicting time pressures.
