  • 12.25 hours per week, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
  • Salary commencing at $34.18 per hour plus 10% superannuation, commensurate with experience

About Moonee Valley City Council Libraries

Moonee Valley City Council provides library services at five locations across the municipality: Ascot Vale Library, Avondale Heights Library and Learning Centre, Flemington Library, Niddrie Library and Sam Merrifield Library (Moonee Ponds).

Services include availability and loans of books and other materials, collection management, information provision, access to computers and the internet, online services and events and marketing.

 

The Opportunity

This position will see you working as part of Council’s Libraries and Learning team providing excellent service to the users of our libraries, ensuring our community has access to information, learning and leisure in a socially inclusive environment.

 

Roster

  • Monday: 9:00am – 12:00pm
  • Tuesday: 9:00am – 12:00pm
  • Thursday: 9:00am – 12:00pm
  • Friday: 9:00am – 12:15pm

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, accurate, courteous and consistent customer services to all users of Council libraries;
  • Undertake library tasks including; placing reservations, joining new members, assisting with room, equipment and event bookings and more;
  • Assist customers in the use of equipment and technology, such as; computers, photocopiers, wireless internet access, library apps, eBooks and mobile devices;
  • Ensuring the presentation of the library is inviting and tidy.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Satisfactory completion of secondary schooling;
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, with the ability to deliver library services;
  • Well-developed IT skills, including an understanding of computer and mobile technologies and the online environment;
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to work as part of a team;
  • Current Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
